I read every single thing Heinlein wrote as a teen and I have to agree, it impacted my worldview. In any case, if I had a daughter, I'd insist she learn krav. You never know when you're going to need to defend yourself. Hopefully never, but that's why you prepare.
Are any of you folks Andre Norton fans! Young people's Space and SCI-FI books. She also published under the name of her brother, Andrew North! I think she's just....the best! LOL! Also, a very prolific writer. A few favorites,
Several of the older Norton books are found in the free section of Amazon. I read them as a kid, and re-read them as an adult. Amazing ,the amount of politics hiding in the weeds in her early work.. Never notice it as a kid, can't miss it as an adult.
