He tells me he only charges to the 80% point. That's the fastest and is 'less strain' on the battery. A 6kW station will get him from almost flat to 80% in under 4 hours IIRC - battery heat/ambient heat being a real limiting factor in the summer.
The DC charging stations will allow for charging at up to 50kw. That will charge a new leaf with 30kwh pack to 80% in about 30 minutes. The require the equivalent of about an 80hp pump service connection. They are normally institution owned. I'm on the look out for a civilian version of the DC fast charger that runs off single phase 240v power, they charge at a pedestrian 10kw rate. I have seen one and I didn't buy it when I had the chance.
