You're got to be sh**'n me..that's the Nat Geo promo?? You're got to be sh**'n me..that's the Nat Geo promo?? If so...it says it all about the agenda for the show. A documentary with any kind of journalistic objectivity it aint....more like a mockumentary I think.
Precisely, Chell. Yes, it is a NatGeo promo, saw it on NatGeo DURING the last Doomsday Preppers show. SC - Doomsday Preppers is on National Geographic channel every Tuesday night.
Gator...no. This is one of their highest rated shows. This will go on as long as the cow is giving milk.
Hmmm..Beg to differ...Question is just how many more will come forward to have 15 minute's of Fame...Or perhap's the ''bulk'' false prepper's.?
Beg to differ? Fine. Facts are facts. It is Nat Geo's highest rated show. They will keep the show going as long as the ratings are there.
It's all fine then...for the sheeple...Fact is..we see massive hole's..Starting with the so called ''Expert's''...and a lack of naming all scenario's..Pretty much like Unemployment #'s and Illegal Immigrant #'s..Stay well my Friend.
Cash cows are only sacred for as long as they give milk Agreed There'll always be "attention whores" (I hate the expression, but it accurately reflects the phenomenon) who'll put their hands up for 5 episodes of three minutes of fame per episode. Evidence of that is the never ending cavalcade of "reality" TV show participants that do and say the most extraordinary things whilst being on Judge Judy, or Survivor or whatever. Money, endorsements, spinoff film, television and entertainment opportunities are also sweet motivators. Agreed. Producers will keep a productive cash cow well fed and cared for, until it transforms itself into an unproductive dog...Then...it gets sent to the knackers.
All fine and dandy Chello...Problem is the show has more hole's in it than one of your 77' condom's...and i will leave you to be the Judge of that one...Cause i'm not touch'n dat...lol
Preppers and the Beverly Hillbillys have much in common I don't disagree with you Gator...if the show was dependant for its following solely on genuine preppers, and the show's premise was based on what genuine preppers would actually do or the prepping philosophy that they live to...then the show would have been strangled at its first pitching session to the financial backers. The show is pitched at the ignorant and uninformed as entertainment, not as a factual educational program....and for as long as people will tune into the entertainment, Natgeo will keep producing it...regardless of the holes, distortions, fallacies, and outright BS. Nobody, well, few people will accept that the Beverly Hillbillys is a true depiction of hillbilly culture, yet most are happy to watch the stereotype as entertainment. Many will watch Preppers with much the same perceptions. (come to think of it...the Nat Geo promo jingle could have been written by the Beverly Hillbillys' script writers.)
Ok,Chello +1 on your first statement..Agreed..No debate .5 on your second...No one draw's any factual meaning from The Beverly Hillbilly's other than Ellie Mae was ''Hot'' for the time's... The anaology could then be said that Uncle Sam would not ALLOW it on T.V. if it was not true..!!! More power then to Nat.Geo. and... If i remember correctly only one that has ever been on the show has posted directly on this site...?
It's entertainment, and a lot of those people are just plain nutjobs. There are several though that have well thought out preperations. I doubt there is anyone here who has as good a set up as the instructor with the $450K bunker, 160 acres, food, and lots of nice toys....including a SAW I saw in the background. How in the hell did he get a SAW? It's not pre-86', without doing the research I do not believe they were available then.
what i laughed about the show was the guy that was convertig the rocket silo into a SHTF bunker "It can be yours for the low low price of 2 million bucks" for 1 floor
$200.00 a month in cable and satalite fees and Bugs says we don't get the national geographic channel; oh well, didn't want to watch a stupid television anyway.
This show is some of the biggest bunch of crap I've ever seen. We all know that no prepper is prepping for any one specific thing. A true prepper preps for the things that are most likely to happen first. Like losing a job, home and personal security, medical emergencies, fire, ect. Don't know bout everyone else, but I try to prep for personal situations first, then local situations and then the global. Not "specializing" in any one particular thing. Just personally working from a standpoint of, from the most likely thing to happen to the least likely thing. NatGeo is trying to exploit the prepper, and make us all look like stupid extremists.
Disagree. NG is exploiting those that volunteer to violate OPSEC in their homes and the also the sponsors. Will it motivate some sheeple? Who knows. We can hope so, that way the odds of some of them finding the way to our doors will lessen. Gotta say that those actors are just advertising a good place for thugs to resupply.
Hey Quigleyl you are lucky I watched it twice once wasn't good enough for me and at the end of the show I felt 10% dumber. Almost made me a window licker
