DOG THREAD, WOOF, WOOF

Just a little over 1 year old now, and still growing!

 

So cute, still working up a good slobber....

 

Our Newfy's only really slobber when it's hot out, or they just had a drink, then it's all over everything!

Besides, drool is kool!

 

I have a female Lab that at the dog park , area , foams from the mouth ,, the SHEEP say she is a rabbit / or infected .. She licks and too much likes

the dog is 'French' after all

 

first time ever for me... Standard poodles are smart, didn't know they would make a good working/support animal.

 

My sis has one of these bad boys.

She also has no problems with 'yotes or stray muts bothering 'her' sheep

 

I heard years ago , and didn't know it,, but they were excellent hunting dogs, for retrieving ducks from the cold water .

 

Uncle Si had one on the duck show,Funny as all get out

 

, ,, Yea , I remember that now ,, it sure didn't fit in with that crowd ,,,

 

Thats what they were bred for, water retrievers... and originate in Germany despite the “french poodle” term.

 

One of the most amazing hunting dogs I ever saw was a Cocker Spaniel, that little bugger was unbelievable at retrieving downed birds, who would have thought!
I have also united over a Visula, again, an amazing hunting dog!
And then, there are the Newfy's, never in a million years would I have thought a Newfy could hunt, but they do, and quite well too!

Point is, ALL dogs have the same basic genetic programing to hunt, and while some may lack the skills or the grace, all can and do well at it! Kinda like man and making fire!

 

I had a pit bull 20 yrs ago,, that dog would run and hide under the bed if I carried a gun thru the house , or went outside with it to just shoot ,, ,, but if I put on camo and grabbed the rifle or shotgun,, she'd be right beside me stalking the woods. If I sat down,, I didn't have to do nothing,, she was a better spotter than I was,, when her head popped up and them ears perked up,, I knew we were about to bring home supper. Best dog I ever had.
