Oh my goodness it should be against the law to post things that make you cry. I lost my Sam a couple of years back and I still have him deep in my hart. He was a big black Lab, couldn’t hunt, was afraid of guns but he was my best buddy. He is waiting for me in Heaven, just hope I am good enough to be there with him. Got to go now and get some tissue.

 

The older you get, the more space in your heart is taken up by 'sleeping dogs'.

Sucks, I know.

Work from home, and the neighbor's English Bulldog pup came over today... What a meatball. I wholeheartedly agree with this.

 

I have had over a dozen dogs in my lifetime but my first favorite was a Malamute; Lobi of the Arctic Gypsy. He was a champion among champions in his lineage, one of the most lovable creatures ever made and fiercely loyal.
His wolf song the first time you heard it would curdle your blood, the yodle is unmatched by any wolf I had ever heard to this day. I wish so much I had recorded it , but it is deeply embedded in my heart.
We played as roughly as you could take it, he begged for more. you could hold a steak in your fingers to him and he would chew it without touching your fingers even a little bit. You could take a bone away, no growl, he respected me and trusted me, and knew I loved him. He had been mishandled before I got him and it took a while to gain trust but that is the way it is with rescue dogs sometimes. I have had several rescue dogs over the years. One amazing pup was from a litter the mother had abandoned chasing coyotes, she was an Aussie, probably one of the smartest dogs I had ever known, and loved learning new tricks. I taught her tracking and she excelled in it, even tracks several months old.
The 2 dogs I have now are rescued as well and little dogs but lovable and have their quirks but we get along ok together.

 

my oldest son has a Nuffie - a real sweetie. Big SOB tho - he had a custom orange vest made for Mr Darcie to wear while they were out camping - so people would not think he was a black bear.

In Alaska, this is a real problem for large black dogs...
