These days it is Busse (or one of their two sub-brands) and ESEE in fixed blade. ZT and Emerson in folders. I have a Chris Reeve Sebby 21 on the way now as well.
I use a walking staff any where I am hiking ,it provided solid support for many different aspect of being in the wild particularly dealing with critters. Combined with a knife/spear ,(not for throwing) few predators if any are wiling to face a long reach pointy thing like that. Deer have horns for a reason. It's not a cane nor trekking poll and ideally should be taller than the handler. both for reach, and safe traveling. There is a renewed interest in hunting with spear , there are you tube videos of them.
In order: 1) BUSSE (had one couldn't afford to keep it) 2) ESEE (especially love their warranty) 3) CONDOR (great knife for the price and I own both of their Primitive Bush knives (Stainless and Carbon Steel) 4) MORA (you can't get more value for less money)

I took the pocket clip off the Robin (if it came with one, I can't remember) so it slips into my pocket. Don't even know it's there until I need it. Very small, light, sturdy, holds a great edge. I think I paid about $12 for it on sale. Can't beat that. Robin 2
I wish I could afford one of these one of a kind knives... DT Custom Knives are handmade from sawblades, nicholson files, o1 and stainless steel. For the true hunter or sportsman that wants a great unique working tool.
