I have been drying fruit etc between to screens for a long time. I have not talked myself into a dehydrator. My delima is dehydrating is alot of work and the cost of a decient one is high so unless you are eating 'raw foods' i am having trouble seeing the point of spending the money. You can buy so many great dehydrated products for the cost of a deyhdrator. Anyone else have thoughts on this? place to by organic dehydrated food Harmony House Freeze Dried and Dehydrated Foods
I see freeze dried food that is nitrogen packed as in the cave eating while hunkered down durning a nuclear attack. Its expensive and in short order will hack up your insides and make you pray for "regularity". YMMV. For the cost of 5 #10 cans of dehydrated, not freeze dried, fruit is equal to the cost of a nesco dehydrator. My Nesco has to well over 15 years, has run hundreds of hours and dried countless lbs of food. As far as jerky goes, we dehydrate until it is bone dry. It lasts forever that way. Some dont like it but it's great in soup.
