The lady that lived next door to our old office was a nurse in San Diego right after Pearl, and she used to tell us about the ones they shipped over, mostly burns and most died. She was there 3 years and some of the same ones were still there when she left. And she hated Japs until she passed away a few years ago, so much so that she wouldn't have anything made in Japan in her house. Makes me glad to have been born way after that war and sad for those that had to endure it.
