I think you are better off using distilled water, but, they are guessing that it was from tap water. I think it is much more likely that the people were in natural water like a lake or stream and that's were they got it. It's pretty unlikely the amoebas would survive the water treatment process, unless you get water from a well or something (SHTF Note: make double sure to boil neti pot water) I'm actually looking for a device that will let you put distilled water in it and it will keep the water warm until your ready to use it if anyone knows where you can get something like that.

Hey I am a noob and I realize this is an old thread but make sure everyone knows not to use plain tap water for netipot! Very bad things can happen if the water is not sterilized!
