Poor little kitten. That clay litter is an expensive disaster for new cat people. Horse bedding is $5 for 40 pounds, smells nice, is biodegradable, turns to sawdust when wet and the cats love it.

When I was a kid the neighbor came over to see our new kittens. Momcat had her bed at the front of the garage. Our old black ex-tom cat was laying (awake) outside the back door of the garage. The neighbor's boxer had followed his person and was standing near said back door. Black male cat did nothing. Boxer made the mistake of looking into the garage and.became visible to momcat. She came streaking out of the garage and jumped right into his face. Male cat joined in the "fun" and they alternated hitting him in the face like a pair of anti-aircraft guns. Backed him right up about 20-30 feet before the people could intervene. That black cat fought well above his weight class.

 

In the wild a coyote or wolf would face the ground and start eating the giblets right out of that cat. Domestic K9s aren’t wired for this.
