i get the smallest i can find @Cruisin Sloth what is more important is getting a high percent of lycra most of the time infant and toddler tights are the right size but they dont have enough lycra so i go with the smallest i can find ive used the 10% lycra but a 20% or above lycra is best,
Making parts from scrap metal, like this shade holder can really stretch the budget. Keeps the sheet metal skills sharpened too.
We save all the bacon grease and used oil and the wife makes bath and hand soap out of it. When the pieces get to small she made a 4X 5 inch mesh bag with a draw string and puts the soap chips in it ---lathers up real well. Homemade soap gets better with age. All the vegetable scraps and chicken bones goes in the pot wife cooks it all down and makes stock out of it freezes for later use. What veggies are to far gone go in the compost pile. I do all the house repairs. In 40 years we have only called a repairman twice when I just could not figure out what was wrong. wife does sewing and knitting, makes quilts out of the scraps. When the SHTF I think we can survive
I’ve figured out that I can eat for a week easily, under 20 buck$. I’ll have to skip cereal but......I’ve eaten more of that than any living human in the last 50 plus years. I’ll by aight.
Im a big believer in do it yourself and it started with this a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe It needed spark plugs done If i would have taken to a shop it would approximately cost this Parts (in list pricing) 6 plug 25.41 x 6 152.46 Plenum gasket (in take needs to be removed) 30.49 Cant find book time but iirc it was 3 hrs 3hrs x $90 (labor cost does vary from location just did the average here)= $270 Grand total 452.46 Getting it myself (retail costs) 6 plugs 14.99x 6 89.94 Plenum gasket 17.99 Tools i need (didnt have anything) $35 Grand total 142.93 Yes there is a lot of variable but even if i were to assume a shop would sell parts to me at retail id still have to spend close to $300 just in labor You factor if you need all or at least a majority of the maintenance to once vehicle you could save quite a bit of money
