i do not believe new crayons burn as well as the old ones.............you might try it b4 u NEED it

I was also wondering about the toxicity of burning crayons too. Might not be to good to breath the fumes.

But really, anything that will burn will work as long as it fits in the can. It's really the can that's critical and that only as it can hold your pan and a fire can be built under it.
