I went to the (then) Telephone company in Tucson (1974) and talked to the HR guy. Looking to get on with TPC. Even had the training having worked for Western Electric as monkey labor for a full summer, and had a FCC radiotelephone license. Guy said he would hire my ass in an instant, but... The FedGov mandated that he could only hire what he called "Black WACS" or black female vets. Something about hiring 'only' white guys forever. Scratched that outfit off my list. Funny, when I got out of the dot MIL I worked for 'a' telephone company for almost a decade. A CLEC, lost that job in a 'resizing' as the management was getting setup for a sale.

Hawaii,, the area burned was "Owned" by tribal folks, nobody was allowed to buy into or build in there, so, Burn them out, get the insurance companies to deny coverage/payouts, and those folks suddenly cannot enforce their "No Non Ethnic's Here" laws, and what's worse, with no insurance, they cannot rebuild, so now they are priced out of their own lands, so now Obummer and Oprah can do what ever the hell they want to, build maga resorts and price them so only the ultra rich can afford it! The fires are so common out there with volcanic activity and the poor green movement policies that we really don't need to consider the possibility of criminal arson activity. However, if there really is something like that to occur, I think the remote drones with flamethrowers would be most likely. People can still acquire them really easily. But, some careless twit with a cigarette could be far more likely.
I saw a news video earlier of a really big area of a burned out homes a busineses ,,,, I know it's really sad for a lot of people out there ,,, and insurance companies dropped fire insurance to these areas a few months ago because of the high probability of fires ,,, basically,, because of California's lack of forestry conservation efforts . It's kind of strange the way things come about ,,, the Hawaii fires ,, and now California,,, If I was a conspiracy theorists ,,, I'd sure have a good starting point ,,,,

I’m not sure what happens to buried power cables in an inferno like this but I can imagine it isn’t good. Many terminations and switches would be above ground too so…The blame is easy, elected officials. Most have never done a day’s work outside where your knowledge of almost everything comes from. Yeah, they literally let the arsonist go free after he was caught by Citizens wielding a blow torch and was caught in the act...and all on video.
