I used NVGs generically. The one I plan on getting is actually a scope that you can take off and use as a monocle. Which one you got your eye on?
Not sure yet. These floodlights will seriously extend range while leaving the integrated IR illuminator on the weapon sight off. Night Vision Infrared Lighting Reviews, All Night Vision Lighting
I'm looking more to these: Night Vision Riflescopes and Weapon Sights - Night Vision Optics by ATN I have an EO TECH which has a NV reticle. As the EO Tech will maintain zero, the NV scope can be removed and used as a hand held. Working towards a similar set up as in picture above.
That's about the same set-up I want. I have an AimPoint, but I don't want my NV to have any magnification....might have to use it to walk around, drive, etc.
True, using ATN's specs, a 2X has a 17º FOV and a 4X has a 7.5º FOV. During daylight if I am glassing an animal, as both eyes are open they will notice movement outside of the scope's FOV. At night, if it is not in the scope's FOV, our eyes are useless.
Yes...gives new meaning to the word "tunnel vision," even without magnification. I wish I could afford the $60k for the NVGs with 4 lens that gives a much wider FOV. Combine that with an IR laser on your suppressed weapon and you'd have quite a nice setup.
