Already making a couple coconut tools for my Uncles and Aunties based on an old tool my Uncle had...
All 304 series stainless...
Oh and another Special Project for a member here...

I have seen guys using a sharpened sapling stump. That knife-thing is pretty cool.

 

I've used a chopstick. Haven't tried with the @Bear titanium ones though, just what was at hand.

Here you go BEAR a Stainless Steel trailer with ramp. Used to haul most anything you can get in it!

This is an older Stainless Steel Project.

Still, being Stainless means it'll never need painting.

Stainless and Paintless.

The top cage is just used to keep those pesky Monkies in their cage.

 

Well it has been used to sneak a thing or two past the border guards!

 

I like it a lot @HK_User that would come in handy here in the land of constant salt air breezes

One of my reasons for building it was that exact experience.

Like they say "It's hard to make something that is sailor or salt water proof".

 

Hanzo monkeys are wild!

 

Opened another coconut for the little monkey for a boost before another six hours of soccer today.



This young coconut has been brought to you by bolo. And the flesh was just scooped out with a spoon. The husk was cut with said bolo and the nut itself was ripped open by hand. You can easily do that with young coconut. Slightly more than two cups plus the meat. I drank half a cup before taking the picture.



After getting monkey situated, I had my breakfast... curried eggs on veggies and a pan de coco.

Aloha Monkeys...

Finally all done with this all 300 series stainless steel project that I committed to a member on August 23rd.

(yeah I'm slow and it sure doesn't look like much... but I probably spent most of that time thinking through the conversation with the member about their needs, abilities and stature... then waiting for a few items... then rethinking.... then finally getting it done)

Here it is.... not much to look at huh?

It's the "head" and "foot" for a walking/trekking cane/staff/stick....

If anyone wants to know more... happy to share the features of this otherwise simple looking tool ... as well as the build along....

Aloha Monkeys....

Hmmmm... no one curious about the first stainless project huh?....

Well then...

Second Stainless project for my Uncle based on his old tool....

Pics show the steps I go through when I make something like this....

-Think about it.... then think about it some more... then rethink it... and think about it some more... sheesh... what an old fart
-Make a drawing on a file folder... they are nice and stiff and easy to transfer to a steel template
-Cut out the drawing...
-In this case two drawings... one with teeth - for marking the teeth... one without... for initial marking, cutting and grinding the tool.
-Transfer to a piece of galvanized sheet metal for the actual template... gotta make a few of these for my Uncle.
-Cut out the steel templates...
-Use the template without the teeth to get the proper circle shape... hard to do with only a toothed template....
-Transfer to the 304 stainless bar in pencil.... its 1/8 x 2"
-Outline with a red marker.... faster and easier than dykem layout fluid
-Then run a carbide tipped point all the way around for a nice shiney outline against the red that is easy to see...
-Take it to the bandsaw to rough cut
-Then take it to the grinder for final shaping
-Wipe off the red marker with acetone
-Then hit it with the angle grinder and a scotch bright pad to brighten the whole thing up...

-5 done and ready for cutting in the final teeth (that's what the second steel template is for)... That's going to be the tedious part...

I'll show the original old tool with my version after I finish these up....
