This place sure got colorful, and with a lighted sign and paved parking lot even! I remember when it was all black and white. Name has changed half a dozen times in the last few years, but I remember it as the Alibi Bar. Roof edge and door were black, walls white, no plants, no lights, no welcome signs, nothing. Painted on the wall in big block letters. ALIBI I always thought it was a great bar name. Right up there with Joe's Older Than Dirt in Louisville and Almost Joe's in Detroit. I remember the ALIBI with a pitted gravel parking lot and if the front door was open, they were open. How times have changed.
This is a terrible picture, but it's the only one I can find that shows the tree that the back of the bar was built around. I used to sit in that empty chair. I looked up one day and a stuffed squirrel was sitting up higher in the tree watching me. If you're even near Louisville, slide out to Lyndon and check out Joe's. The wings are always hot and the beer is always cold.
