Meyah killed this thread, dammit. So here's mine, just to bump for more pix. She needs pimping, suggestions welcome. (Cheap sling is already gone.)
Congrats on the Fulton Armory AR, wish I would have purchased one when they were being offered at the discounted price. Still a novice getting better though, no optics just iron sights.
Novice? Hah. I have just under 500 rounds thru her, more than thru any other rifle than 22 cal.. But I agree on the irons, seems like getting proficient with them makes sense in case all else fails, which is what the Murph likes to see. So far as optics go, the carbine sorta limits reaching out too far, thus the red dot or similar thinking. Also has crossed my mind that something on the order of a 4X fixed power scope could help the eyes with seeing out to maybe 200 yards, after which the accuracy has to degrade with the 5.56 in a short barrel. Giving that very serious thought due to the cost factor. :dunno: Still thinking, that's all that's in my wallet for now. BTW, Fulton's catalog has a very similar item for very little more, if that price range is still under consideration. Those guys are the best, talking and dealing. When money permits, they are going to get my business on something 308.
With me on the trigger, that is REALLY optimistic. This, too, is a major consideration. I have no shoulders and a long neck, not to mention my propensity to crawl the stock. Thinking goes to a pistol scope. But it all has to wait on coin accumulation. I should say that the 5.56 does NOT present bitten eyebrows problems with the Wolf 55 gr in that regard. One more reason for the experiments with the loads I just bought.
All right! You are going to have to run a few rounds downrange and let us know what it is like. I am sure it would be a fun toy topped with an EOtech.
Yeah, E.L. The Carbon models are every bit as good as aluminum. Not a whole hell of a lot of stress on them anyway
Re: AR Pic Thread WOOO HOOO, I should be pickin' up my new AR tonight or tomorrow!!! I went ahead and bought a complete rifle, instead of the kit I was thinkin' of gettin. Figured for my first AR I would want to shoot it bad enough and I didn't want to risk puttin' it together wrong I got me a Stag Model 2, here is the stock photo of it. I'll post my own pic when I get it in A buddy of mine ordered one for himself at the same time, only his is the "lefty" version. Guess we'll be able to have some nice "brass wars" with each other Oh, and I'll be gettin' a couple of FREE 30rnd mags from the range I work at woohoo!!!
