Have y'all ever watched the first 15 minutes of the movie "Cold Mountain"? It's a depiction of the Civil War Battle of the Crater, and I will never get tired of watching it. Some of the U.S. Colored Troops went into the Battle with shouts of "No quarter!" and "No prisoners!", and the Southern boys were more than happy to oblige. It was a bad day to be wearing Yankee Blue, didn't matter if you were Black or White. At the end of the "turkey shoot" the dead Yankees were stripped of everything and buried in a mass grave of their own digging! The Army of Northern Virginia was issued the arms, equipment, and footwear, and the uniforms too ( after they had been washed and dyed )!
