And that is the difference between Australia and the United States, we are citizens and you are a subject.
You are delusional if you think US citizens have more rights than Australian citizens. For example, your First Amendment grants you the right to freedom of speech. Except it doesn’t, does it? Say anything on Facebook that the ‘fact checkers’ don’t like and it, or your profile, will be removed. Proof your First Amendment right only exists in your head. For example, your Second Amendment right to bears arms doesn’t exist in New York if you want an assault rifle or any semi auto rifle with a folding or telescopic scope, pistol grip, bayonet lug etc. It also doesn’t exist in any place with red flag laws. Another Amendment that exists only in your head. we are all subjects, some of us are just unaware of it.
There is a VAST difference between Govt censorship, which does occur, sadly, and how a private entity wants to run their ship. FWIW, I've been tossed out of a movie theater for laughing too hard - at a comedy movie.
You sign up for facebook, they can censor you. In public/press etc. You have the right to say whatever you want. As for the 2nd amendment, thats what protects all our other freedoms. Why do you think the govt wants to get rid of the 2nd? "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Red Flag laws only work if you are stupid enough to keep ALL of your guns in a gun safe! NEVER register your guns, ALWAYS have too much ammo, ALWAYS have a few guns (also magazines and ammo) buried out in the woods where NOBODY will ever find them! I keep telling y'all, I GOT A PLAN FOR THAT!
Thank you Wild Billy for proving the point I was trying to make. Why do you need to hide your guns when your 2nd Amendment guarantees your right to own them?
Have knife violence? Get an assault hammer. Or https://www.survivalmonkey.com/thre...-or-how-to-deal-with-an-active-shooter.68518/ Seems like it would work on an active stabber too.
First zeroth rule of gun safety is don't let the government or rust take them. The zeroth rule of gun safety is have one.
Why hide some? A tyrannical government is why, sure its our right, but the government is stomping all over that right each and everyday! Dunno how it is over is aussie land (,could really care less as i dont live there) but here in the usa if the govt dont want you to have something, you better make sure you have extra of it!!!!!
I agree with the sentiment. Freedom in the US and Australia are currently comparable, with each having relative advantages and disadvantages to the other. Freedom granted to a subject is at the caveat of the government. Freedom to a citizen is a guaranteed unalienable right. Actual rights exist within the US, though they are constantly being eroded by the politicians who are dedicated to making us their subjects. It's never ending and when it hits a critical mass the citizens take a break from their normal lives to straighten it out so it can start all over again. Without rights that would not be possible. Do not confuse rights with privileges. They are not the same. All you can do when a privilege is suspended is to complain to deaf ears or get ballsy enough to engage with arms. That's why rule number one for subjugating the masses is gun control.
Hide them because of Red Flag laws,... and the government,... and something could happen to the house!
Isn’t a right really only a privilege when your government limits it? For example, any gun owner in America who has had his gun ‘rights’ removed under red flag laws shows that gun ownership isn’t actually a right in America, but a privilege. Same goes for any gun owner in America who is not permitted to have hi cap mags, folding stocks, ‘assault rifles, threaded barrels, bayonet lugs, etc etc etc. What most Americans don’t seem to understand is that their gun rights became only gun privilege a long time ago. Americans like to bang on about Australians being weak and giving up their guns, but you guys are well down the same path already. Some places in Australia actually have less restrictive laws than some places in the US.
Red Flag laws are necessary because some gun owners are ape-shit crazy and need to have their guns taken away for the safety of all concerned However, I don't feel that gun laws apply to people like me...I'm a Southerner remember. That is why I hide some guns and ammo in the woods.
Red flag laws are not necessary at all!!! To much to go wrong with them things! Deffinatly not a privilage, with enough money i can walk into a gun store and get what ever i want.
Red flag laws violate multiple amendments, not counting the 2nd. They probably won't be around for a whole lot longer.
Quote: Deffinatly not a privilage, with enough money i can walk into a gun store and get what ever i want. can you buy an M60 without all the background checks and registration from BATF? You can’t, can you? We can buy them in Australia after jumping through the government hoops. Can you buy an AR15 with telescopic stock and 30 round mag in every State of the US? Or does the 2nd Amendment only apply in certain States? Does your 2nd Amendment permit trigger activators, ghost guns, bump stocks? Does it protect you from the BATF from visiting you in the middle of the night? Anyone here have a well reasoned reply apart from the mantra “we got 2nd Amendment rights”?
Whatever laws are in place hardly matters, what matters is if your society is relatively peaceful. This thread started because some extremist kid stabbed some radical priest from a cult church, I mean look at how that guy was dressed, some ultra orthodox sect leader who regularly speaks out against one of the most radical religion on the planet? No wonder he got stabbed. A week before a schizophrenic off his meds stabbed a half dozen people in the same city and that will it for mass murder for a year or two now. Not bad for a cultural melting pot of over 5 million people. I passed through that city 25 years ago and it was a shitehole then! Now compare that, the biggest city in Australia, with an average US city. If the right to bear arms actually means you are safer, then WTF is going on over there?
You cant buy any gun from a gunstore without a background check.....but with enough money sure, you can get a m60. Look up dragonman in colorado!
Actually we can it's called a special occupational tax payer. Do some paperwork, pay a few hundred dollars per year and own any new machine gun. Does the right to bear arms make us safer? Yeah no government ever mass murdered a fully armed population.
