Just like I said....nor do many (sane) Australians wish that Australia be like the USA. Those that do, like has been actor Mel Gibson and religious nutter, Ken Ham, among others are welcome to enter the green card lottery and GTFOOA for their promised land / Nirvana.
Asking for a friend: does the 2nd Amendment apply in California, Illinois, New York? It seems to me that gun laws in some states of Australia are more liberal in those US states. Like, can you have a Glock with a threaded barrel and a 30rd mag in New York? Because we can in Victoria.
Yes, the 2nd Amendment applies to those states and sooner or later the U.S. Supreme Court will get around to slapping them back into line. However, I'm a Southerner (thank you GOD!) and to hear the Yankees (non-southerners) talk we are the worst. As a Southerner, I don't have to concern myself with bullshit Yankee gun laws, because Dixie doesn't have them, nor do I have to concern myself with Federal gun laws because down here we just ignore them! Glad to hear that you can get permission to own a Glock (I'm NOT a fan) down here we don't need permission to buy or to sell a gun...I mean you can fill out the paperwork, but some people don't! Me personally, I sold most of my guns back during the "Great Recession" when money was tight. I kept a few guns that had sentimental value or were too cheap to sell. I have started buying a few more guns in the last few years, but I'll never have the collection that I once had.
I have 9 handguns, including the Glock, a CZ SP01, a 686 .357m revolver, a 1911 etc. We still shoot tactical matches, like IPSC and Service Pistol. whilst we need ‘permission’ for each gun it’s just a formality once you have a licence, sort of like your background checks. My next door neighbour had an AR and also a couple of smg’s on order before he called the local licensing cop a farkwit and had his license pulled. Most shooters ignored the tougher gun laws in 1996, they just buried or hid anything that was about to be restricted. 6 inch pvc pipe was in very short supply for a while.
Or being shot and killed by some geezer who doesn't understand the limits of 'Stand Your Ground' laws....
That is actually extremely rare and usually the perps fault. Cops have a much higher risk of being killed by the perp than the perp has of being killed by the cop. Our media warps shit beyond recognition. also according to fbi crime statistics white people are much more likely to be killed by black people BUT that is not what the media shows. The media has a narrative they want to push. Note the percentage of black people in the USA population is 13%. So statistical over representation is present. The issue is government handhout programs and the war on poverty has destroyed the black family in the USA. They ecouraged single motherhood to get welfare benefits instead of encouraging intact family units. Of course the marxists have stated one of the goals is to destroy the nuclear family so par for the course. Table 43
When the dudes high on meth and should have listened to the cops in the first place.....play dumb games, win dumb prizes!!!
Pretend constitution?? Theres a reason why japan didnt invade the us during wwii...."a rifle behind every blade of grass"
The japs didn’t invade Australia for the same reason. Your 2nd Amendment rights seem very shaky in some states. I hear America has the death penalty for calling 911. An Australian woman forgot she was staying in the land of rights and freedom, rang 911 to report suspicious activity in an alleyway, and was immediately shot dead by police when they arrived on the scene. A middle aged woman in a dressing gown must look very threatening to your police. Killing of Justine Damond - Wikipedia
Yeah dude, it’s so dangerous here almost everyone I grew up with has been choked out by a cop or shot by one. Smh
You overlooked the obvious cultural differences involved. (DEI) at play. oTOH, a cop lit up their own police car because an acorn fell on the roof...a much better example of why you should ask: Will things get better if I call a cop?
Yeah, he was some Somali DEI graduate of the police academy! He was riding in the passenger seat and fired out the driver's side window of the patrol car! The guy is a freaking idiot!
Are instances like this the result of your gun culture, your desire to protect your right to bear arms at any cost? Is your fight to preserve the 2nd Amendment responsible for the massive proliferation of firearms in American society and the tendency for police to go into any interaction expecting a citizen to draw a gun on them? And hence make your cops very trigger happy. I’m pro gun ownership, I own almost 20 myself, but I believe gun ownership is a privilege in modern society, not a right, and that it comes with the responsibility to ensure your firearm isn’t misused.
