    HILARITY on Twitter and elsewhere today! Pump your own gas is only being allowed in counties with smaller populations, and heads are EXPLODING all over the place. Twitchy article, if you are interested: OH NO! Oregonians lose their minds...over having to pump their own gas!

    I heard on the radio that we were being lambasted on the early morning shows. One announcer mentioned that Oregonians would probably buy more electric cars so they wouldn't have tp pump their own gas, while another retorted that they would complain if they had to plug them in to recharge by themselves. THEY thought it was funny - I think it's probably going to happen.

    Naw, The rational for not doing Self-Service in Oregon, was to employee Young men, and keep them busy, until the grew up, and aquired some Brains... Now days that isn’t an issue because most young men, don’t need the jobs, as Mommy. & Daddy pay for everything...

    It was jobs, lots of entry level jobs. Didn't ever pay as much as welfare, but they were earning the money.

    I have purchased gas in Oregon one time and the "attendant" that filled my tank looked like he was on crack. He scared me to death. What are the qualification of these people, presently vertical?

    You can't pump your own gas in NJ either. Has been that way for at least 70 years, and the excuse is fire codes. I have no idea, but some of those gas jockeys probably need help to eat.

    The only advantage I can see to having attendants is that it adds a bit of security especially after dark, but I've never encountered any issues when I lived outside the state.

    The portion of Oregon allowed to pump their own gas are the smaller populated counties that also just happen to be 99% red. The squeals are coming from the densely populated blue areas. Just a coincidence... I'm sure...
