Went big this week...got a larger BOV...going over it with a fine-toothed comb to help ensure its reliability.

 

I think about that when I buy a lot of things these days. In a way it's a good feeling. Looking for my last pickup now.

 

Was thinkin the other day about getting a pair of whites boots.. Then wondered if I would live long enough to wear them out ...

Tday got 5 big cans of Maxwell house coffee 4.99 each if I bought 5. Nice deal. Have enough coffee for now for one year.

Dehydrated 50 pounds of Coral mushrooms this weekend.

 

What process do you use? I can't keep fresh sliced mushrooms around for salads before they go bad. I stock canned mushrooms for nearly every other use.

 

I picked up a couple last Saturday, Will be using it to trap snakes.

 

Interesting, never tried that.

 

For smaller batches, i use an American Harvester dehydrator. with a big bunch I lay them out on window screens and put the screens up on the rafters of my greenhouse. Just pull them apart so they are all uniform in size so they all dry at about the same time. In the dehydrator it takes about 6 hours at 135 degrees. In the greenhouse there can be a lot of variables. Usually when the high for the day is 70 - 80 degrees it takes 2 days. Nothing else. No brine - no nothing. I then put them in a jar with a lid. Make sure they are all dry before you load the jar and they will last for years.
