Birds, monkeys, fish and other animals form groups and bond with each other for protection, survival, and reproduction. Hairless apes are tribal for those reasons too but we are tribal for a number of less natural reasons, such as nationality, class, gender, sexual preference, race, politics and religion. Insiders are those who look, act and believe as we do. Outsiders are those who don't look, act and believe as we do. There are good, bad and ugly consequences of our tribal, them-versus-us approach to life.
