Given the Monkey demographics, I doubt that there are any that don't understand the angle. I also doubt that most care which corporation is on the top of the pile this week.

All really old groups, Christians. countries, companies had to have an easily recognized symbol as most people could not read, or only read English, Spanish, etc and trade was world wide. Churches got by for a long while by having an official language, Greek, Latin, Arabic, etc and countries used French. Now as to why they were chosen, that is a whole different question.
