Many wars of this and the past century have had their generations of emblematic war songs...

The present Ukraine War is no different. Here is a selection: Ranging from the wry, to the patriotic:

    (Contains some obscene text)

This song contains obscenities and may also be NSFO in Russian jurisdictions...it could earn you, if broadcast in Russia, up to 15 years in a re-activated Soviet era style Gulag!

The VDV song might be a strong contender for Eurovision 2022! ;)

The Russian Bear still has some of its sharp teeth, even though some are rotten and others are missing. The Ukrainians are demonstrating that soldier for soldier they are more skillful and better motivated than most of their Russian opponents.

The Russians are not doing particularly well on the tactical and operational domains of warfare: consequently they are doing it hard at succeeding in their strategic objectives. Because of their weakness at a tactical level they are increasingly resorting to the crude brute use of indirect fire support (field artillery, MLRs, Drone / helo / Ground Attack Aircraft guided precision munitions etc) to pound their opponents.

The Russkis have been tending to increasingly use their Arty assets to attack civilian infrastructure and civilians themselves in a similar way that the Nazis tried to terror 'Blitz' cities in Britain in an attempt to destroy civilian morale and the will to fight. Such methods didn't work against Britain, and indeed is having the opposite effect in Ukraine.

It would appear that the the War in Ukraine is approaching an attritional phase. It will be interesting to see which side buckles first. If the West can keep the weapons and munitions and other logistical support up to Ukraine, they have a good chance of surviving as a sovreign nation yet.

I like to think thàt Putin will be dragged kicking and screaming, begging for his life from a Kremlin command bunker some day soon, and exterminated with extreme prejudice like the KGB vermin that he is. Hopefully he will join other tyrants in modern times who have died ignominiously for the crimes against humanity that they had committed.

If the Russians were fight a modern army using modern warfare tactics they would be in a world of sh*t as if they aren't now

They seem to still be fighting with a WWII doctrine and it's not working to well for them
If we had lost 10,000.00 men in the first month of the war in Iraq they would have hung Generals and crucifier the President
