Yes sir, this is a strong City in supporting the troops. When you have a strong support base then you need to be there to show how you feel, your appreciation is noted by showing up. In this the American Legion had a fund raiser and had $14,000 donated from a hamburger supper.
The uniforms of the Cadets appear to be based, almost exactly, on the WW2 era dress uniform. Interesting. And, they look good! EDIT: OMG! The overweight one is 'out of uniform' as he is missing a belt! DROP AND GIVE ME 20, DOUGHNUT EATING, CHOCOLATE CHEWING SCUMBAG! PS. It is nice to see some normality in a world gone insane. It's quieting, refreshing and hopeful. Thank you!
@HK_User This post made my day. People celebrating their own service and those celebrating those who served our country in the military. It is enheartening to see a community come together in support of their veterans. Looking at your photos made me feel like I was there.... and activated my allergies.
It is strange. First veterans day as a military retiree after having been in uniform most of my adult life.
Get use to it, it can open up a whole new world of helping others for their needs and nothing to do with your income.
Yup and suddenly all the walls of inter service rivalry is gone and just the respect and needs of being a vet or helping another vet with no other object in the way. The allergies! Talk to your Doc and see if a steroid shot every six months may help.
This was just the start of the day as there were events that did not end till 2000. Food, stories, a blending of all ages and just a get together for a common cause.
What a great event. Nice to see all ages represented and hopefully it will inspire the youngsters to get involved to help care for their country and community.
