So my daughter works for a local farming supply store and she was able to get "some" damaged bags of fertilizer. Now I have no idea what to do with it all. I have put most of the fertilizer in to 5 or 6 gallon buckets I had laying around since all of the bags were busted/torn. I have 15-15-15 - 4 5-gallon buckets and 2 6-gallon buckets. This is AFTER applying the recommended amount to my almost 2 acres of yard and some to my garden. 0-20-20 - 2 5-gallon and 1 2-gallon buckets 34-0-0 still in bags, but 2 40 lb bags pelletized lime 2 5-gallon buckets. I've offered some to my neighbors but they have not accepted any yet. I really have no idea what to do with all of this, I'm assuming it will go bad after some time or if it gets wet. When my daughter asked if we needed any of the 15-15-15 I was sure I'll take a bag or two. That would be all I need, but, bless her heart she was taking everything they were going to toss out. I just wish she was able to get some weed-n-feed . Guess there are worse things to have an abundance of, LOL
Delivery an Option ? QB in Canada , Have Cold Canadian beer and a great house with great food and a few spare rooms .. Sloth
Hey there ya go, kc. Free beer La Batts, or is it La Blatts? I haven't been to Canada ever since they kicked me out of Montreal in 1986 and the RCMP escorted me to the next plane back to the US.
.. .. fer mineral based fertilizers .. .. if ya it can last ya 4 ta 10 years or longer if dey been sittin fer a while already it might not last ya as long .. .. ya gotta protect em from da air plus moisture .. ..
Keep it dry. I had some of that good pre9/11 fertilizer for about 10 years that's a lot harder to get now.
Montreal is a sensitive place. Only time I have been removed from an establishment was up there. You Sir were thrown out of the country, that is admirable. @kckndrgn never heard anyone say they have too much fertilizer. I agree with the others, it will keep for a year or more. Storage is key. Your daughter sounds like a smart girl, she sees something useful and grabs it.
You'd think, with all the politicians in DC, that every American would receive an ample supply of free fertilizer, every year!
Guess I'll have the greenest lawn in the neighborhood.... NAH, I'll use it in the garden and hopefully put away or sell more this year!
Too much fertilizer...and for free, is a problem that a lot of folks would like to have. There is a shortage and the price has gone through the roof!
You can get 10-30 gal buckets/barrels online for reasonable prices if ya look a bit. The ones we bought are black with locking lids. Put your fertilizer in those and it will last a good while. NOT SURE ABOUT THIS, but I wonder if a person could use a chunk of dry ice to disperse the O2 like we do with the 5 gal buckets of grains??
What part of the country are you in? Someone here might take some off of your hands for you! Heck if you are close to me I’d buy some for my garden.
Nice score! I have a few bags of 13-13-13, but most of the time I just go to the stables and get a truckload of horse manure. It's free, but they charge a small fee to use their bobcat to load.
