Remove your bolt and insert the main guide body, screw in the small brass rod to lock every thing down tight.

All the new toys, Grand dad was born in 1873, had a 1890's lever action 30-30 all his life and most all of it was corrosive ammo of course, had a string, fishing weight, pull thru, and usually cleaned at least somewhat within 20 min or so of shooting. Was in real good shape when he died young at 87. I really don't know what he used, but it seemed to work. For muzzle loaders he used hot soapy water for good cleaning and a patch or two for field cleaning. If I remember right, he carried the cleaning stuff in an old tin snuff can and it was oily with something.
