A Three Sisters garden in a suburban or small rural block is a good way of developing some self sufficiency capability. https://youtube.com/shorts/vcENP7EQ8Pg?si=OA-unIpI4z-PvO4B
Ha, where I grew up, Three Sisters has a Totally different meaning! This was from my Plane at around 8500 feet heading east on the south side towards the town of Sisters Oregon for a killer $100 bacon cheddar burger!
Tried it, once. Here's a few tips: LOTS of corn. Remember, corn is a wind pollinated crop, so pack them in pretty densely. Also, beans will quickly overwhelm your corn stalks, climbing them, if you don't have enough. BEANS.....DON'T overdo it! See above, for WHY. Better yet, help both your beans and your corn, and run a couple string trellises across your growing bed, to help support the beans. SQUASH. They take up a LOT of room. So figure to plant one per every 2-3 square feet, maximum. And you're probably better off, just putting them around the outside the growing bed. Otherwise, your inside plants won't get much sunlight, and you might end up growing some mutant squash!
Ice cream place or the one with all the rifles (Gallery?). I miss Papandrea's. The Sisters of my youth, like Bend, are sorely missed.
The old Alpine Ice cream place near the air park! Yea, Sisters has turned into Jackson hole, too many foreign out of state rich have moved in and bough it all up and turned it into their playground! Saw it get started with all the fly fishing and skiing in the area, and then all the rich retiring there and building mcmansions, others buying up "Hobby Farms" and horse ranches! Sure has changed, and not for the better!

A thoughtful youtube clip on 3 sisters plantings...the basic concept may need some adaptation depending on growing region, soil, and climate. Careful thought needs to be given as to the cultivars best suited to those growing conditions.
