From another board http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=436957 If Jefferson were still alive ... he'd be organizing a Revolution as we speak ....
Yup, and the British never taxed as heavily or did near as much to opress the colinests as could be said that our modern government dose.
He'd surely have more sense than to favor an AK. and he'd certainly know how to make enough money to afford a better fighting rifle.
Re: He'd surely have more sense than to favor an AK. There is no better fighting rifle ever invented.
Re: He'd surely have more sense than to favor an AK. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I'd have no problems depending on an AK to save my ass in a sticky situation, especially if that's all I could afford and/or had access to.
Well it would at least beat the hell out of any .223 which was created and addopted for the fact that it wounds the enimy rather than kill them which costs the enimy force more money and resources. A dead soldier at most costs 1 man and a body bag, a wounded soldier takes that man and at least 1-3 of his comrads to carry him to medical attention where there is then the cost, resources and personel used to treat him after which he may or may not be able to return to combat. For conflicts between nations this works well, for saveing ones own ass however a wounded soldier may well still be able to fire his weapon and kill you with his 'crappy' AK or other .30 cal after you already got a solid hit on him. So for the man in the battle the AK or other .30 cal is the supirior weapon, if your the beurocrat sitting 10,000 miles from the battle then yeah, guess you would be right that the .223 would be superior.
Oh and as you mentioned in another thread that a .223 SP will do as much as a .308 ball round, well that is likely true or at least close enouph to be arguable, the catch is you could just as easily use .308 SP ammo and far surpass the tramma inflicted by either of the choices you mentioned. You kind of have to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges for the comparison to mean anything, not apples to steaks.
MM, don't confuse him with food, because in a SHTF situation, all apples, oranges and steaks will be devoured by the wild infected dogs, so your comparison will fall apart after that!
