In 1999 a World War 2 Japanese flag was rescued from a box of rags that was about to be burned bore the signatures of 189 soldiers of I Company of the 3rd Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment. The wife of the man who found the flag later began a project called The Names On The Flag to document those signatures on the flag and to get as much information as possible about those soldiers.

My Dad was one of those men. The information and stories provided by the surviving soldiers and their families is very eye opening and gives an insight into the lives of the soldiers who served in the Philippines.
