King's Mountain, Cowpens, and the exploits of men like Francis Marion turned the tide in the American Revolution...and these men were militia...farmers, craftsmen and traders. While General Washington and the Army, along with our French allies, were up north waiting for a chance to score a victory against the British, the militia in the south made it happen! Still, a lot of things had to fall into place before we could win, the French fleet had to show up, Washington had to abandon his dream of taking New York City, and the American and French armies had to move south without being detected, but it all happened just right, and we won!
