Military Appreciation Night opened the 2021Cowboy Capital of the World Pro Rodeo Association’s annual Stephenville rodeo Friday night, September 24, 2021. Rodeo officials and sponsors invited DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Chapter 234 Commander, Bill Maness, and Turnbow-Higgs American Legion Post 240 Commander, Curtis Anderson, and their veteran comrades to the arena, and presented each organization a generous donation in recognition and support of Veteran Service Organization’s much needed veteran support programs.

“On behalf of Turnbow-Higgs American Legion Post 240, I express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to the CCPRA and its sponsors for their generous donation. As a 501c19 non-profit organization, donations are critical to Turnbow-Higgs American Legion Post 240’s operations, and continued sponsorship of area youth participation in The American Legion’s Boys State, Oratorical and Scholarship programs.”- Commander Curtis Anderson

My music partner's daughter received a grant from American Legion Post 199 from their Oratorical and Scholarship Program to spend a week at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and subsequently obtained a Presidential Award for the University of South Alabama. She just recently graduated nursing School and obtained her degree with a 4.0. The American Legion was instrumental in providing support that allowed her to gain her education and credentials without amassing a pile of student debt.
