I hope that no one who resides at, or visits Survival Monkeys ever has to survive an active shooter incident...here are a number of sound suggestions for surviving an active shooter scenario.

    Situational awareness is also important....

Rule #1; carry a damn gun!
Rule #2; know how to shoot the damn gun!
Rule#3; carry a damn rifle in your car/truck and know how to access it quickly!
Rule #4; don't go places where there is known trouble!
Rule #5; identify all exits, and keep your self near one at all times!
Rule #6; practice, practice, and practice some more! The quicker and more accurate you are, the better a chance you will have!
Rule #7; learn to shoot from odd positions, and learn to shoot upward from one knee and hit a grapefruit every time!
Rule #8; get to your damn rifle as soon as you can!
Rule #9; learn to shoot that rifle from odd positions, and learn to take a knee and shoot upward, and be able to hit an apple every single shot!

That assumes that one lives in an open or concealed carry jurisdiction, or are prepared to ignore such restrictions.

I say carry a gun and run if someone starts shooting up the place.
    You don't have qualified immunity.
No one should obey stupid dangerous laws.
Where I work I could throw together an improvised chemical weapon in about 40 seconds or less. With 2 or 3 minutes I could make something really horrible, would be considered war crimes if carried on to a battle field.
A gun would be nice, but an improvised chemical weapon could really make an example out of a would be work place shooter. People would be saying "the shooter didn't deserve that". After they're done throwing up and dry heaving.

While I agree in principle, the reality is most people will not have that kind of devotion to their weapons. So I would submit that #4 and #5 should be the advice to that average sheep.

I actively ignore those restrictions except for Court Houses and other Government Facilities with metal detectors. Any place else I consider this sign to be a suggestion.

No such assumption is made. Legality aside, carry the gun was, and remains, the point.

    Thanks Chell, good info.

As for myself: I do avoid the Four S’s and maintain situational awareness as much as possible, and am armed at all times when I am away from the house. At 69 yo with bad knees, my hero days are over. Where in times past I would have searched out an active shooter now I must avoid contact. With the exception of a shooter in a church or school, everyone else is on their own. A shooting costs big bucks to the hero nowadays, and I have no desire to lose everything I have in court with some of rescued sheep being “reliable witnesses” for the prosecution . Everyone has the same opportunity and responsibility to acquire skills and weaponry as I do, so adults are on their own.

If you are a free man you should carry a gun to protect your family. Some societies have laws against this but as FREE men we make our own destinies. If a law does not apply to EVERYONE with equal force then it is not a law at all.

Packing full time(practically) is my security blanket even though the odds are virtually nil I’ll ever need it for that specific reason. Avoiding trouble and or an accident on the freeway is my main concern for the next 5 or 6 years. Yikes!

This is how I feel about being caught in a Democrat (socialist) active shooter anti-gun situation trying to push legislation.
