Well, when I'm forced to eat at McD's (usually with my son's Scout troop) I'll order the beef patty only (usually 6-8 of them). No bun, no veggies, no condiments, just the patties.

I can understand your theory on just eating the meat ,, but what I've heard about the way they make them patties ,,, would make them patties the worst part of the whole meal. I heard a while back there all kinds of stuff , is put into a big blender and ground to a pink slurry ,, then formed into patties. But , I really don't know for sure .

I strictly regulate the quality of foods I eat, BUT when it's McDs, it's the McRib (whatever THAT meat is) or the nuggets. That may happen once every year. As a site HACCP food safety guy, I learned a little human meat is acceptable in very small percentages.
They jave quit using the "pink slime" but there 100% beef patties are misleading. " 100% Beef Patty: Ingredients: 100% pure USDA inspected beef; no fillers, no extenders. Prepared with grill seasoning (salt, black pepper). Thankfully, McDonald’s and several other chains recently stopped using the “pink slime” in their meat patty. But the vast majority of fast food beef comes from CAFO (concentrated agricultural feeding operation) cows. Not only is this horrible for the animals and the environment, but eating meat from sick animals will only make you sick. Eat a McDonald’s hamburger and you might be getting a mouth full of antibiotics, hormones, and dangerous bacteria. So while it is “100% beef”, the quality of that beef is another issue altogether."

One of the Worst things that WW-II gave us was the idea of artificially making food stuffs to replicate or replace REAL food, as well as to preserve foods longer while ignoring the traditional means of doing it! Wife and I ate at a McDonalds in Kyiv Ukraine, it tasted WAY different, in fact, it tasted more like home made, or what you would expect some place more expensive, I was really impressed with the fries, and saddened at how far we have slid off the rails here in the states!
