Years ago I hatched eggs in an incubator I made from an Omaha steaks shipping cooler electric Christmas candle hardware cloth and a thermometer. The eggs were scavenged from feral game chickens (Florida) I ended up with 8 hens . I ate the roosters. Once they started laying I picked up a heavy breed rooster free . The next batch of chicks were half game original games and the rooster were butchered. Once that batch were laying. I found another heavy breed rooster . Making the next generation three quarters heavy breeds in three years I had a decent flock of chickens that were 7/8ths heavy layers 1/8th game . I started a flock once from farm bought eggs flea market incubator stopped at a place that had a sign up for farm fresh eggs .
