Space Force Officer Relieved After Denouncing Marxism, Critical Race Theory in Military

A U.S. Space Force commanding officer was removed from his post after publishing a book that warned of the spread of Marxism and critical race theory in the military.

The Space Force confirmed that it relieved Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, a former instructor and fighter pilot, as commander of the 11th Space Warning Squadron.

“Lt. Gen. Stephen Whiting, Space Operations Command commander, relieved Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier of command of the 11th Space Warning Squadron, Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, May 14, due to loss of trust and confidence in his ability to lead,” the Space Force said in a statement to various news outlets over the weekend.

“This decision was based on public comments made by Lt. Col. Lohmeier in a recent podcast. Lt. Gen. Whiting has initiated a Command Directed Investigation (CDI) on whether these comments constituted prohibited partisan political activity,” according to the statement.

The “public comments” that he made in a podcast were likely in reference to the spread of Marxist ideology within the military, which was detailed in Lohmeier’s recently self-published book, “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military.”

Lohmeier had appeared on the podcast “Information Operation” to promote his book, and during the show, he criticized Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s agenda. After Austin’s confirmation, he ordered a “stand down” to deal with alleged extremism within the ranks of the U.S. military coming after the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.

“I don’t demonize the man, but I want to make it clear to both him and every service member this agenda—it will divide us. It will not unify us,” Lohmeier said, adding that Austin is promoting “diversity, inclusion, and equity,” which he and others have said are “rooted in critical race theory, which is rooted in Marxism.”

Critical race theory, which draws heavily upon Marxist and postmodernist theories, denounces U.S. and Western culture as a form of oppression. Critics have said its proponents apply the Marxist tactic of “class struggle” to divide people along lines of race, gender, and ethnicity to label them “oppressors” and the “oppressed.”

In recent days, a number of GOP-led states have barred schools from using curriculum based on critical race theory or The New York Times’ “1619 Project,” which critics have denounced as ahistorical and inaccurate. Recently, White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended both the 1619 Project and critical race theory.

“What you see happening in the U.S. military at the moment is that if you’re a conservative, then you’re lumped into a group of people who are labeled extremists, if you’re willing to voice your views. And if you’re aligned with the left, then it’s OK to be an activist online because no one’s gonna hold you accountable,” Lohmeier also said, according to the Washington Examiner.

Space Force officials didn’t immediately respond to a request by The Epoch Times for comment.

If in the military you have other rules to adhere to

Capt Lohmeier please run for political office-- we need honest patriots in either the Senate or Congress to preserve and protect this Republic under attack by the very scum you have denounced

Running for political office AFTER he is off active duty is fine BUT as an active duty officer in the US military he should keep his opinions to himself. EVERYONE on active duty or reservists or guard in status should keep their opinions to themselves. I am not saying this because I disagree with him. I might try and get a copy of his book to check it out. However, no matter what your political beliefs are, you should shut up about them when on active duty.

Certainly not in public fora, but even within the chain of command there are risks. The lower on the totem pole, the higher the risks.

I am of the opinion we took an oath to defend the Constitution which supersedes the idea of not speaking out against a President (commander in chief) hell bent on destroying this country. Many will disagree but I stand by my belief.

As soon as you publicly take a shot at CIC while on an active assignment, you lose your clearance, are not allowed to re-enlist or extend, and could catch a BCD. Lose your clearance and you might become unemployable. Wait until after separation before spilling your mind in public.

Then you would need to request a discharge, easier for officers but that is the path and then you are "free" to complain all you want.
Rule of the military is very clear.
Politics and enlistment does not mix.
Now in time of war and active combat things are different.

    Really nothing new.
    Been that way since Nam.
    Why?
Because the Media and commies learned how to control the masses in America and the Media learned how to lie about body counts etc and change our system to one they like better.

Just more of the Cold War.

It is not politics in the Mil it is the overthrow of America and they should be teaching that in the Academy and Boot Camp
    Ain't gonna happen.

Mil folks that think it is their right to bitch in public about the CIC should, by now, know that they have played right into the enemies hands.

The enemy knows what dissension is and how to sucker a "free" country.

""Dissension is disagreement that leads to discord.

The wordings of the current oath of enlistment and oath for commissioned officers are as follows: "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of ...
    This presents a conundrum:
Do you speak out and protect the Republic or blindly follow a corrupt leader down the road to socialism.

You follow the orders from the commander of your unit. Look NO higher than that for something to countermand your unit commander. Otherwise, you are in a position to be accused of mutiny.

On the bright side is the fact of his book sales have skyrocketed which proves the "people agree".
In this is the fact that he was allowed to screw up and even encouraged to publish the book under "approved release" of information by the .Gov. This also proves that you cannot trust your "superiors" in their requirements of being honorable in their actions and are just pawns of the leftist.

Yes we all know this was a move by the left but all it really did was short circuit their snaky ways.

All around I would say it is a win for patriots.

I would suggest that Lohmeier take an early out and run for office.

Relieved Space Force Officer: ‘I’m Being Misportrayed’
Lt. Col. Lohmeier Said He's Received 'Thousands' of Supportive Messages
    By Samuel Allegri
    May 18, 2021 Updated: May 18, 2021

A U.S. Space Force lieutenant colonel who was relieved of his command “due to a loss of trust,” said that he is being “misportrayed” on the internet with respect to some of his remarks about communism on a podcast earlier this month.

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, who was previously in command of the 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado, also received tremendous support privately from servicemembers, noting that “thousands” of messages have been sent to him, some saying that they feel they have “lost their voice,” he told Fox News.

“I’m being misportrayed online—I don’t criticize any leader, or any person in the DoD (Department of Defense) or any elected officials—but I try to tee up ideas that I think are toxic,” he said.

Lohmeier noted that has been reassigned within the Space Force, yet retains his rank.

The controversy played out after he published a book that warns against the spread of Marxism and Critical Race Theory in the military.

The title of his book is “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military” and on Sunday evening, it shot to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list.

Lohmeier explained that he wasn’t trying to be supportive of a specific political party.

“I don’t believe I was being partisan. It is not politically partisan to expose or attack Critical Race Theory or Marxism,” Lohmeier told Fox on Monday.

“The reason I say that is because Critical Race Theory and Marxism are antithetical to American values. Critical Race Theory fuels narratives that attack America’s founding documents,” he said.

Critical Race Theory branched out from Marxist “critical theory,” which has been progressively finding its way throughout American universities during recent decades.

“This decision was based on public comments made by Lt. Col. Lohmeier in a recent podcast. Lt. Gen. Whiting has initiated a Command Directed Investigation on whether these comments constituted prohibited partisan political activity,” a reads a statement from Space Force.

The Pentagon didn’t respond to The Epoch Times’ request for comments about Lohmeier’s ouster.

In addition, several GOP Representatives expressed their support for him.

Rep. Byron Donalds, (R-Fla.) believes that Lohmeier is a hero and asserted that the “leftist mob” is trying to cancel him.

“Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier is a hero, not only for putting on the uniform every day to defend our nation but also to defend the freedoms of the leftist mob attempting to cancel him,” Donalds wrote. “CRT should have no place in our classrooms, Armed Forces, or country as a whole.”

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, (R-Texas) wrote that the story should not be forgotten, adding that the military needs to be ready to fight and secure victories, not how to be social justice warriors.

“We need to be preparing our warriors to fight and win battles, not how to be SJWs,” Rep. Crenshaw, former Navy SEAL, wrote on Twitter.

“Far left critical race theory is taught while speaking out against MARXISM is punished?? Share this. Don’t let this story slip away,” he added.

Other Republicans such as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.) weighed in to defend Lohmeier as well.

As soon as he published outside of the DoD, his fate was dictated by his oath. Cruz, Biggs, Bishop et al have no standing in military matters. Simply put, he put cleat marks in his own dangling parts.
