…..as a gift for a friend. Maker is here in Aus, we went back and forth on the design, the handle is from a blade he previously made but I talked him through what I wanted in the rest. Below is the template and the drawing we ended at. Steel is RWL34 at @60rc and the handle slabs will be Gidgee, which is a common tree in the areas I hunt out west. Probably several months till it’s close to ready.
Looks like it would work well. Good choice of handle material as well. Shawn Makintire (spelling is wrong on the last name, i used phonics) is a real good maker there. I worked with him when he first got started.
I sure like the looks of it. I never heard of the RWL34 steel and will have to look it up, seems like someone is always come up with a new one. Isn't 60rc getting a bit too hard, as sharpening will be a bitch? Maybe you got something special to sharpen it with?
