I like it! At almost 17", it's no mini but it looks like it'd be a very functional camp.field knife that doubles as a short sword in a pinch. Really like the pommel hole and blade hole. Wonder what the handle material feels like. Looks to be a good replacement for my Cold Steel Recon Tanto.

Did you pick one up HK? If so, a review would be great.

It is more handy than most large knives.
The handle is a texture that allows a good grip, kinda pebbly but nothing aggressive.
The handle is designed along with the blade to enable you to choke up on it for close in fine work to make very fine shavings for fire starting or fine carvings.
A basic flexible plastic sheath can be purchased as well as an outer Cloth Nylon cover for the plastic sheath that has a belt loop.
The knife comes in stainless and carbon steel. I purchased the stainless as the knife stays with a ranch 4 wheeler and is often wet.

I would purchase this again it meets certain needs.

Great, thanks for the info. I'm seriously considering picking one up along with the 110mm puuko they make. Seems like very fair pricing for the knives in carbon steel with leather sheaths.

1095 is a GREAT steel and the heat treatment Rowen give the ESEE blades is second to none (it rings the last drop of usability out of 1095. If you understand it’s limitations you will have a blade that gives you years of service !!! I also have a bunch of ESEE knives !!! The new line being introduced now is in S35V with optional contoured scales. The 1095 is not being discontinued either.

Love my ESEE 5 too. It's a beast. I actually think the 3 is better size wise, but I wouldn't trade my 5 for a 3. I'll just have to add a 3 for utility sake!

How long does your new steel stay pristine? Nothing like a dirty little steel princess.
