Don't get me wrong, I really do hate to fly anymore. But never at Christmas time. The last time I did that, was in 1969... Why , you might ask. There used to be 'travel delays" -- weather, late planes and so on. Now - there is this Two people are arrested over ‘criminal use of drones’ at Gatwick Airport | Daily Mail Online 2nd busiest aerodrome in the UK shut down by a drone.... The story is lengthy. At one point, a person makes the comment - "In the US, they would have shot the damn thing down and been down with it..." I would agree. Still, a lesson here if you still risk life and limb on commercial flights...
Drones REALLY open up a whole new can of worms with air travel. I could see a coordinated attack on several airports at the same time.
The piece from the Daily Mail makes the point that jammers disrupt pilot control. Many of the new model drones can be programed to fly a GPS way point set - no pilot input needed. I suppose that's when the LASER 'hard kill' option is used.
Huh... yeah.. funny how “That” was headline news while westminster axing billions (85?) from the health sector at the same time didn't even get a mention... Awfully convenient distraction.....
I guess I should have asked: What, if anything - other than cash, do you carry for dealing with long delays/airport shutdowns? I carry a window shade and a light blanket. Alaska Airline has stranded me at SEATAC too many time not to be ready to take a nap as I wait for the next plane with space... I also carry a few granola bars in case it is late enough the food vendors are closed. Always have a SS water bottle
Flyaway EDC The Nalgene bottle is now a SS Kleen Cantten The radio is an ICOM R2 - covers from 550KC to 1.2 Ghz. I normally cary a MAGLITE 2 cell AA in the winter...
