This last Friday, while I was at work, my neighbor and tenant was kidnapped from her home! Her daughter's crazy ex-boyfriend was looking for her but took the Mother when he couldn't find her. When I got home from work the Sheriff's deputies were just leaving, and I had to let myself in to check on her dogs and to make sure that everything was cut-off. Then I started piecing together what had happened...it seemed like everyone had a piece of the story. He showed up at the trailer and pried the back door open and entered the trailer. He took her hostage at gun point and fired two shots inside the bedroom (thankfully he didn't hit anyone or anything important). He then forced her into a rental car (the fastest vehicle known to man), tossed her cell phone out and drove away. He called the daughter on a cell phone, told her that he had her Mother and wanted to make an exchange. The daughter called the police and the chase was on. Because he had threatened to kill the Mother the police didn't try to intervene right away, instead they followed his phone as he drove across north Alabama and waited. Numerous police and sheriffs dept. along the route had been warrened-off, so as not to endanger the hostage, and he was allowed to continue on to his home in eastern Alabama. Finally, after about 10 hours he became tired, and the hostage was able to escape into the waiting arms of the law and he was taken into custody. I'm happy to say that 24 hours after it all began that she is back home! I hope that she is going to be all right cause she is a nice lady and a good tenant.
How long, before this shows up on "COPS"?? Bonus points, if the perp is yelling, "I KNOW MY RIGHTS!!", as they arrest him! Your point is valid, though. Sadly, trying to reinforce the door on a manufactured home is difficult, as there's just not that much wall thickness to play with. Might be time for her to look into getting a dog, and a can of Mace!
And absolutely press all charges possible! This guy is despicable. Hope he gets a good long stretch in the Slam. Though he'll probably be among his buddies and homies there.
...get a shotgun to go along with the dog and mace. Reminds me...I still don't own a shotgun, thinking of that Genesis Arms Gen-12, made right here in North Idaho.
She has two dogs, but the ex-boyfriend had been to the house and knew that they wouldn't be a problem. Hell, I would loan her a gun if I knew for a fact that she wouldn't shoot the UPS man, or even worse, ME! The only problems that she has had since moving in have been kid related!
