Mobile Bay and somewhere in Japan are the only two places in the world where this happens, but Jubilees are an amazing event. Thousands of fish, crabs, all sorts of critters come into shore in mass and can easily be scooped up by hand or with a net or gig. Folks around here are pretty secretive about them, we now have a Jubilee Witch Doctor that has accurately predicted the event on numerous occasions that I can verify. We just placed a call to our witch doctor because there is an east wind, one of the conditionals apparent for a Jubilee. She says there is a number of other factors that will outweigh the east wind tonight, Jubilees require a really warm water low in oxygen content, and east wind, an out going tide. She claims to have been wrong a few times in her life but is a legend for accurate Jubilee predictions. There was a small one last week that netted a bunch of really good sized blue crabs, shiners, and mullet for anyone that happened by the Orange Street pier around 3:00 in the morning.
