Well this is something often discussed in firearms groups, survivalist and police circles. Board houses will need some protection internally to stop bullets. Yet log homes are the way forward for this, but will logs actually stop bullets? Here are the results using logs of varying thicknesses! The results are interesting to say the least. If you are using most types of softwood, there is a good chance of anything above .22LR blowing through single log thicknesses up to 10 inches. However, with hardwoods and larchwood the difference was astounding...
A .22lr will shoot through an average house, unless it strikes a bookcase or similarly bullet resistant material.
HAHA, My house is half Stone! It's the other had that I need to worry about! Seriously, Most high powered Rifles and many pistols will penetrate a home or two using FMJ ammo, and in most cases, it takes special ammo to NOT penetrate!
That's one reason I want a stone cottage. Of course there are still windows that will be hazardous in that situation, and the greenhouse will also be threatened, because when it gets built, it will be all glass due to my mother's preference, which is a big deal to have that threatened, because that would be our year round food supply source. Feeds us and the animals that also feed us.
Rule of combat ,the fight needs to be engaged a long way from home . It's best the enemy does not know where home is. Prisoners ,if any , are not taken any where near home. Any where else but Home. at a great distance preferably . I recommend raiders taken in battle are enslaved to work for their food .their leaders are executed , their members are isolated from one another . If you haven't a group your unprepared for combat .no matter what you house is made of, it can be compromised.
