I was at a department store yesterday and between music, their announcements were preparedness-related. "Make sure to have your emergency kits ready...", "stock up on..." kind of stuff. Now I'm not a big shopper, so I don't hang out there a lot, but I don't recall ever hearing a message like that one before. Hmmm... Looks like the Boy Scouts and Survival Monkeys were right. Be Prepared!
With the various troubles of late, they are capitalizing on people's fears. Not such a bad idea - get the sheeple to do SOMETHING...... A few canned soups and some bottled water could get them thru a couple days of power outtage - rather than them squealing for a Goobermint handout immediately.
