Dr. Jensen also disclosed that hospitals are paid more if they list patients with a COVID-19 diagnosis. Dare I say it? Some of that dramatic increase is due to padding the bill by our duly dull representatives.
Add in that there are hospitals laying off medical staff due to empty beds.. Those that have not been laid off out right are subject to being called off for low patient census. That's without pay!
It is why the billing departments study the ICD-10 coding, maximize income. Especially for an ER department. Have sent someone to the er to be checked for a possible fracture to have them return with a diagnosis for pneumonia or urinary tract infection. That is a common joke around facilities.. Our local hospital is not testing everyone as well, @oil pan 4 ..
