Well, I figured I should say hello, as I've been stalking the forums (and I had to look) for 2 years now. The wifey and I started our preparedness during the ebola scare. We fell down one hell of a rabbit hole in the beginning. At the time, we lived in Commiefornia(I was born and raised there). Our prep was more about what we needed to "Go". That bag was BIG. We moved to Illynoid in '17 to help with family. At that point we decided in the country would be best and to start growing our own. That has been a process. Green acres at its finest...lol. Now enter 20 and the Wuhan. That's when I found the Monkey. The site has been a treasure trove of info and helped tailor my level of prep. I've never really felt the need to post a question because I can usually search and find the info I need. My latest find here, that I'd never given to much thought to is communication. If the grid were to go down, phones are down. So I've got the obligatory Bao's and currently falling down the GMRS/MURS/HAM rabbit hole. So that's a basic summary of how I got here and I figured it was high time I pop up out of the rabbit hole and say hello. So ... Hello all I'm Rodney...family calls me RJ
you've been around over 6 months - saw all the "Fuck Pritzker" signs across the state - the vote is Tuesday
I left Los Angeles 11 years ago because I could see the writing on the wall. I seem to recall there was a thread about some old school phones that have a walky talky mode like the old Nextel that you could get for pretty good prices. Push to Talk on Iridium system, new and intresting Resource - NEXTEL Direct Talk, The Off-Network Walkie-Talkie NEXTEL Direct Talk, The Off-Network Walkie-Talkie FRS Motorola T801 Radios....
