When I lived in South Carolina...and worked for the State...there were 8 holidays , and 10 to choose from. You could pick which 8 you wanted. This day was one of them...as was May 10th....Confederate Memorial Day.. I wonder if that is still applicable. Probably not.
If the South had of won the war I wonder if we would have such a bloated federal government interfering in states rights today. One thing is for sure. We would not have slavery. Slavery was a dying practice long before the civil war broke out. It was a war over states rights not slavery.
