Former MMA star Cain Velasquez shot at man charged with molesting his relative, sources say Vigilante justice might be the future. I get this but….He went all in and got the wrong guy. Boo.
I have no sympathy for Cain. Taking the law into one's own hands for vengeance / retribution: Often, as Cain is finding out, it usually doesn't end well...for the avenger as much as others around the avengers target. The law may be an ass, the law may fail victims at times, but it is one of those imperfect checks and balances which keeps a civil society from devolving into anarchy. If Cain is, on the evidence, lawfully convicted of the crimes he has been charged with, then he should do the time...as much of it as can lawfully be imposed. Similarly, if Goularte is convicted of his (alleged sexual abuse of a minor) offences, then he should also be punished to the full extent of the criminal law. The Ahmoud Arberry case highlights the possible consequences of vigilante 'justice'.
It was stupid but, he’s got CTE and a few other defense possibilities. My thoughts are mainly with his child. Lost his dad (most likely for many years) and allegedly abused by a sick POS up to 100 times. An ankle bracelet was all the judge required. His ankle isn’t what caused the devastation for that poor kid. (Allegedly of course)
Shooting the right person for wrong and unlawful reasons is not much of an improvement over shooting the wrong person for wrong and unlawful reasons...both are criminal offences against a civil society where the rule of law matters; or at least is supposed to matter.
Good points sir ,,, but ,, you could argue the fact that these criminal individuals are not adapting to society as expected of them ,, so we could strongly debate the " civil " part ,,, which in recent years ,, even our own governments are not protecting you and your family from these individuals. At some point ,, you and your families health and well being is thrust upon yourself . . Take appropriate actions.
