Used to be, the Boy Scouts had a "Field Manual" specific to the region, it contained all the known species of flora and fauna that was even kinda edible, a huge resource to have in hand! There is also the S.A.S. survival guide book, a very handy piece to have as well, it's very well written and full of very useful info you never knew you would need!
