A study trying to increase the accuracy of radio carbon dating has found evidence that about 14,000 years ago there was a sudden spike in radioactive carbon created by the solar particles hitting the earths atmosphere. The amount deposited in 1 year of tree ring growth indicates it would have created an EMP that would destroy modern civilization and may have created a minor ice age. A quick summary in Zerohedge points out the results of studying the data in a easy to read.

Humanity will survive an event similar to the one 14.3K years ago, and although many will perish, enough will survive to repopulate the planet again...humanity experienced a similar near extinction event with a pool of survivors in the low thousands.

The study indicated in the Zerohedge article leads to the PDF that gives the source of the data, , how it was analysed, and some conclusions worded very carefully so as to keep the climate change nazi's off their backs. It indicates that solar storms can have major impacts on at least the radioactive carbon and that may effect climate change in a major way. That interferes with their belief that only man caused CO2 can change climate. The paper is in the form of a pdf.

The Abstract of the paper states that the event recorded in the radioactive levels, very high and the rapid onset, one year to peak levels, may indicate it had some input on the creation of Older Dryas cold period in our climate history as well as a massive EMP impact.

The study in passing also indicates that the radioactive carbon levels are linked to the earths magnetic field and it shielding effect. We are having problems there as well. One massive magnetic event is listed here. It implies that the impact on our planet is a result of both solar storms and earths magnetic fieldd.

Earth's magnetic field broke down 42,000 years ago and caused massive sudden climate change
